01 — The Brief

The property had outgrown its own photography.

Cheval Maison The Palm's existing imagery no longer reflected the property in person — inconsistent light, dated framing, and color that didn't match the brand's actual finish. This commission set out to replace it space by space: matching camera height, framing, and color science across every before-and-after pair so the transformation reads as one consistent upgrade rather than a scattered reshoot. The goal wasn't to make the space look different — it was to make the photography finally look like the property.

01

Matching Brand Standards

Every frame needed to align with Cheval Maison's existing brand guidelines for color, crop, and composition, so the new set could slot directly into their marketing library without a style mismatch.

02

Live Operations

Shooting took place around a fully operating property — guest rooms, communal spaces, and amenities all needed to be captured without disrupting service or guest privacy.

03

Consistent Light & Color

For a before-and-after story to hold up, each pair needed matching angle and color temperature discipline — inconsistent light between the two would undercut the comparison.

03 — Questions

Commissioning a before-and-after shoot.

What is before-and-after hotel photography, and why commission it?
It is a paired set of images showing the same space photographed to the property's old standard and then to its current one. Properties commission it when the building has moved on but the pictures have not — refurbished rooms, a rebrand, or an OTA listing that under-sells the actual finish. The pairs also give internal stakeholders clear proof of the upgrade.
How long does a shoot like this take?
A property-wide refresh of this size is typically a single on-site day per apartment type, with light-dependent spaces such as terraces held for dusk. The schedule is built around the spaces, not the clock — a terrace at blue hour is one short window, an interior can be worked through the middle of the day.
Can you shoot around live guests and operations?
Yes. This commission was photographed while the property was fully operating. We work room by room with housekeeping and the front desk, keep kit footprint small, and never photograph guests or occupied areas without explicit consent.
What is delivered, and what usage rights come with it?
Fully retouched, colour-matched files in web and print resolution, plus crops sized for OTA platforms, website and social. Standard licensing covers unlimited use on your own website, OTA listings, social channels and press. Paid campaign and third-party brand use is licensed separately and priced before the shoot.
How does pricing and scope work for a property-wide refresh?
Scope is defined by spaces, not by frame count — we agree the list of rooms, amenities and exteriors, and the number of final images per space. Pricing is a fixed fee against that list, with licensing stated up front, so there are no per-image surprises after delivery.
How are the before and after pairs matched?
By discipline on the day and in post: the same camera height, focal length and framing as the original image wherever it can be recovered, then consistent white balance and colour science across the set. A pair only works if the space is the constant and the photography is the variable.

02 — The Result

One consistent story, not a patchwork of reshoots.

The delivered set gave Cheval Maison The Palm a unified before-and-after library — proof of the upgrade for internal stakeholders and a ready-to-use asset set for OTA listings, the website, and brand marketing across the property's rooms and amenities.
